madCAM - plugin for Rhinoceros

madCAM (Mould and Die CAM) the 3D-CAM plug-in for Rhinoceros.
The development started in 1987 with a standalone CAM-system to use in our family business for mold making.

Since the release of madCAM as a plug-in for Rhino in spring 2003, the first completely integrated CAM-plug-in for Rhino3D, we have been developing madCAM to optimize the integration of new CNC tools and more sophisticated machine control with Rhinoceros modeling functions.

madCAM provides the ability to generate 3,4 and 5-axis toolpaths in Rhinoceros®. Rhino and madCAM also work superbly together as a CAM system, even when work is normally undertaken in other CAD systems, because Rhino is extremely capable of importing files in other 3D formats.

madCAM is still developed within our own mold making 0ivision, ensuring immediate and practical feed back. In this way we are confident that madCAM achieves an unparalleled level of control and machining quality. We know our customers can rely on madCAM because we use Rhino and madCAM every day in our own production facilities.

 

madCAM 5XTRA

Includes everything in madCAM 5X plus simultaneous 5-axis features like Swarf profiling, perpendicular to surface profiling, part trimming from curves and vectors, 3D drive surface control and more.

This version is aimed for the user that needs additional features for advanced simultaneous 5-axis milling. The extra degree of sophistication for your particular projects.

The drive surface option makes it possible to use any standard toolpath function and keep the cutter perpendicular to the drive surface. The dive surface can be a surface as part of the model or an external surface. This makes it possible to control the cuterdirection in simultaneous 5-axis independent of the shape of the model. The drive surface option works for roughing, waterline finishing, planar finishing, pencil tracing etc.

The swarf profiling is used to create simultaneous 5-axis profiling toolpaths from surface edge curves and keep the cutter parallell to the surface. This function works over several surface edges and can be used on polysurface or solid nurbs models.

The perpendicular to surface profiling is used to create simultaneous 5-axis profiling toolpaths from surface edge curves and keep the cutter perpendicular to the surface. Works on polysurface or solid nurbs models with curves over several surface edges.

The part trimming is used to create simultaneous 5-axis profiling toolpaths from curves and vectors. The cutter direction is controlled by selected vectors or line curves. This function can also be used for simultaneous 5-axis scribing.

5-axis machine setup with kinematics, postprocessor and machine simulation for any kind of 5-axis mashine.

Includes 2 1/2-axis, 3-axis, 4-axis, indexed 5-axis, automatic remachining and more. This version is aimed for the user that needs support for 3-axis, 4-axis and 5-axis milling.

The extra functions needed to automatically and effectively process from a user-defined 3D stock model are included here. By automatically processing areas where there is residual material, it obtains the final finish where previous finishing operations have not reached material due to cutter size.

All features works for 3-axis, simultaneous 4-axis and indexed 5-axis. There are additional options for the axis of revolution function where the user can select the direction of the spindle axis. This makes it possible to create simultaneous 4+1 axis toolpaths.

It has extra features to avoid or process only the flat areas on a model. Included functions for removing sharp corners on the toolpath and provide a smoother motion of the machine.

From 2 1/2-axis to 3-axis milling.Contains what is needed for 3-axis milling inclusive roughing, waterline finishing, planar finishing, pencil tracing, engraving and more.

This version includes advanced, automatic separation of toolpaths. With a suitable strategy for milling of relatively steep and flat areas, calculated from surface normals. We believe this is necessary to obtain high quality and efficient processing.

It is possible to mill inside or inbetween one or more smaller areas by using region curves.
